Cub Scouts is for boys and girls aged from eight to about eleven and it's a great way to make loads of new friends and have a whole lotta fun too!
Cubs usually meet once a week in the local scout den but that's only half the story! About once a month, the pack goes hiking, swimming, camping, to the cinema or wherever you wanna go! That the cool thing about Cubs, you help decide what the pack does and when now where else will you get that kinda input!
As Cubs, members will get their first taste of camping and usually go away for a weekend or two each year. They also have the opportunity to do proficiency badges based on their interests, skills and hobbies. All of the badge Scheme is laid out in the Cub Scout Hand Book which they get when they join the pack. The Programme is broken into three arrow stages andthey will complete one stageeach year they are in Cubs.
Cubs work in-groups called Sixes and an older cub is appointed Sixer and takes responsibilities for some ofthe tasks with the younger cubs. Each six also has a Seconder to help the Sixer with his / her tasks
At 3rd Monaghan, Carrickmacross, we have two cub packs. One meets on Monday, the other on Tuesday. Both at 7.30. The two packs run their own programme but often meet up for joint activities.
Use the cub section menu on the right to view cub news and events.
