About Beavers Print E-mail

Beaver Scouts is the junior section of Scouting Ireland and is for boys and girls aged six to eight years of age. Beavers usually meet weekly in the local Scout Den and program centres on games, arts and crafts and other activities designed to stimulate the imagination and encourage members to have lots of fun whilst making lots of new friends.

Beaver Scouts participate in a two-year programme broken up into four 6 month segments. After each segment they are awarded a Paw Badge and they will have gained four paw badges when they transfer into cubs.

Sharing, Sharing, Sharing, is the Beaver motto and this underpins everything they do from playing games to beaver treks and outings. Beavers don’t camp but do stay over in the den on occasion in what is known as a slumber night.

As with all members of Scouting Beaver Scouts are expected to take a promise and to try to live up to these ideals in all that they do

3rd Monaghan, Carrickmacross has two beaver colonies that meet from 7.30-9.00 on Monday or Tuesday. Each colony runs its own programme but meet regularly for joint activities.
