Last Thursday evening the 23rd August saw work start on our new Campsite at Dun A Ri. The contractor who is felling the trees started work clearing our site of all the trees.
Within one week having visited the site on Thursday night last 30th Aug all but 12 or
14 trees where gone. The difference in the site is brilliant and you can now see the extent of the site. It's a great space with loads of room for everything we want.

The site is now nestled in the forest surround by trees on 3 sides and bordered on one side by a field.

The setting is fitting of a scout campsite. Standing on the site the other night you could hear the birds and other animals all around you and the sound of the water running down the river at the bottom of the site really brought it home that our Campsite is not a dream anymore.

We hope that the excavation to start levelling the site will start next week and we hope to follow that on with the drainage and site services.

You have to pinch yourself now to think that this time last year we were only thinking of someday having our own campsite but now standing there its real.

Its a long road ahead but hopefully soon it just won,t be the animals and birds we will be hearing in Dun A Ri but also the sound of our beavers, cubs scouts, Venturers and Rovers laughing and having fun in the Outdoors.
