This September, new members will be accepted from existing waiting lists for Beavers. No new members can be taken in any other section at this time.
The most recent Scouting Ireland census shows the 3rd Monaghan,
Carrickmacross Scout group to be the 4th largest nationally and the
biggest group outside the Dublin area. With over 200 youth members and
almost 50 adults, it is a vibrant, busy group with two beaver colonies,
two cub packs, two scout groups and large venturer and rover sections.
The level of interest in joining the group from the community is
phenomenal and extensive waiting lists exist in all sections. However,
priority for entry to sections must be given to existing members moving
up to a more senior section. This year, due to large movements from
Beavers to Cubs and Cubs to Scouts and with all sections currently
operating at maximum permitted capacities, the Group Council has
reluctantly decided that new members can only be admitted to the Beaver
section (6-7 years old).
This means that, unfortunately, we cannot take any new members into cubs
or scouts. Beavers will be selected from the current list in order of
application but with some filtering to ensure gender balance. A waiting
list for all sections will be maintained and some applicants may be
called if drop outs occur due to poor attendance etc. We cannot add any
more names to waiting lists for this year. Parents interested in adding
children to intake lists for Sept. 2007 and 2008 should contact the group.
