On Wednesday the 6th of August the Beavers headed off early in the morning to join all the other Beavers from all over the country to spend the day in Punchestown at the Jamboree for the 'Beaver Day'.

We left the Scout Hall at 8.30am with all the Beavers dresses up in their costumes where the theme of the day was -'Wizards and Magic'. There was great excitement as they waved goodbye to their parents and then sat to watch 'Shrek 3' on the bus!

When we arrived at the Jamboree the Beavers were enthralled to see all the different types of tents and they seemed to go on for miles! Unfortuntally when we got there so was the rain!

After checking in we got our goody bags and then we were given a prefect where he led us to different bases but with the rain so heavy we took shelter under the stand and had a break and had our packed lunch. We then went up to the Carrick Scout Camp Site and the sat in the marquee and some met up with their brothers or sisters! After we looked around the site where the scouts had to live for their 10days we went back down to take part in the Beaver activities.

While we waited for our lunch order of Nuggets, Burgers or Sausage and chips th Beavers got into the games - the first one was where the Beavers had to pick up the balls with the letters on them in a net full of paper cuttings and come out the other side to spell the word BEAVER. they all got into this with great excitement with everyone including leaders being covered with the paper cuttings!!

After their lunch which they all loved they made their sock-snake with the long sock they had brought with them. They then made different drinks which made their teeth and tongues change colour - this they enjoyed!!

Next it was time to get blindfolded and get their hands into buckets of some slimy mixes to pick up balls this was one for the brave and there were plenty of takers! Time was going fast and the Beavers wanted to do everything they saw - some were off to get balloons while others tried making bubbles with hugh buckets of bubbly water.

Last we couldn't leave without spending the money they had brought and they wandered through the Scout Shop where they picked up mementos form the day at theJamboree. All got their sweets and icecream and ate it before they got on the bus hame after a great day for the Beavers at Jamboree 2008.
