Carrickmacross Venture Scouts have had many exciting outings in 2009.

A sample of these activities are:

Climbed Ben Nevis in the Scotland Mountains on our winter camp in February 09

Spring 09 activities included: Survival Night, Rock-Climbing and Building a Rope Bridge

Cycled the Ring of Kerry for the summer camp in June 09

Surfing Weekend in Bundoran in October 09

In 2010 we plan to a lot more of these activities as well as going to Poland for the Summer Camp. The Venture Scouts are from the age of 15 to 18 years old and meet on a Friday night from 7pm to 8:30pm. The skills/attributes that the youth members learn and benefit from include: Self Confidence and Motivation, Organisation Skills, Hiking and Navigation, Camping, running their own Programme while also meeting new friends and visiting locations around the world.

The aim of Scouting Ireland is to encourage the physical, intellectual, character, emotional, social, and spiritual development of young people so that they may achieve their full potential and, as responsible citizens, to improve society.
