On the weekend of the 8th and 9th of May a group of Monday and Tuesday cubs who are moving to scouts next year joined up with the scouts for a night. The purpose for the camp was to give the new scouts to be a glimpse of the great things they will experience next year.
The weekend comprised of 35 cubs and scouts mixed and 15 leaders. Activities partaken on the weekend were Cooking outdoors, Camp crafts, Camp fire, Tent pitching, Volleyball, Football, Assault course as well as learning life skills, leadership skills and making new friends.
The cubs who are approx 12 years old built their own sleeping quarters before preparing their food and fire for their evening meal consisting of potatoes, veg and burgers. The meal was then eaten along side the scouts in the scouts quarter. This followed with clean up and then a group game of volleyball and a good old camp fire that went on well into the night.
The following morning started with a good wholesome breakfast and then came site tidy up part one. This is where the cubs and scouts clean their sleeping areas and hang the walls of their tents to dry. A few games follow and then its time to dismantle the camp site and tidy things up and leave no trace of ever been there.
A good weekend was had by all and it will be a great experience for some cubs to be apart of next year.
