33 Beavers headed off to Larch Hill in December…. There was great excitement in the hall before heading off in the bus to Dublin. After a long Journey & a few songs later we arrived at Larch Hill….. we almost didn’t make it up the winding hill to HQ but thankfully Bob came to the rescue & we arrived safe & sound!

After meeting our allocated elf for the day we had some lunch & magic tricks from the elves!!! We then set off to Santa’s workshop with the elves… but the first few folks that we met were Jack Frost & his buddy!!! He tried to fool us that there was going to be no Christmas this year – but they weren’t going to fool the Carrickmacross Beavers!!!! When he realized how smart the Carrick Beavers were he gave up & took us through the secret passage to Santa’s workshop where the elves were working on all sorts of different tasks which the Beavers then made too!!
There was Face painting…. Lots of snowflakes, Reindeers, Christmas Trees & even a Spider man! There were home made snowglobes… so pretty & sparkly all taken home to Carrick, the gingerbread men…. Don’t think too many of these made it home!! Lots of chocolate fountains & the task of finding the candy canes among the hedge!
After a while in the workshop we all headed to Santa’s cottage to visit the main man – SANTA!
It was a short walk up the field & then through the secret path down to the cottage & there he was waiting for us! Santa invited all the beavers into the cottage to sit beside him. He asked the Beavers if they enjoyed the workshop & if the elves were doing a good job… the Beavers let Santa know about Jack Frost trying to cancel Christmas… so Santa put Jack & his buddy on the naughty list. Santa told us he knew Carrickmacross well & had some friends there…
Santa had gifts for all the Beavers & in return the Beavers gave Santa a gift of a sleeping bag to be passed on to the homeless people who had no place to stay this Christmas. The Beavers thanked Santa for their presents & promised to be great boys & girls til Christmas when he’d be visiting their houses in Monaghan. We sang some songs & took some pictures with Santa & then said good bye.
We headed back to HQ & finished our lunch before all the very tired Beavers headed back to the bus for the journey home.
A great day was had by all & everyone was in the Christmas Spirit heading back to Carrickmacross that evening!
